The European Digital Diplomacy Exchange (EDDE) invites you to join us on Tuesday, November 26, at 15:00 CET for a virtual lecture Safeguarding Inclusive, Transparent and Safe Digital Information Spaces in the Digital Era with Oskar Braszczyński.

In today’s digital information landscape, platforms like Facebook, Instagram, X, Threads, and others are not just social networks, but bridges of dialogue between governments, citizens and all stakeholders within our societies. They have the potential to facilitate and shape public discourse and governance. Taking note of the challenges and opportunities for effective government communication that foster dialogue and trust, counterbalanced with threats of misinformation and foreign malign disinformation narratives as harm to information integrity, safeguarding inclusiveness, transparency and accountability in digital information spaces for open public debate has never been more timely and more necessary.

This virtual lecture aims to explore the versatile landscape of public discourse on social media, the opportunities of inclusive engagement, as well as responsibilities and rights of engaged stakeholders. With practical case studies, this lecture will provide understanding of the challenges and opportunities in promoting transparency across various areas of communication towards digital democracy. The Focus will be on Meta`s tools and solutions for ensuring transparency on social media platforms. By examining Meta’s initiatives alongside broader discussions on political communications transparency, this session seeks to equip participants with actionable insights for fostering accountability and integrity in online democratic discourse.
